In 1938, the Wagner O’Day Act was created to enable agencies serving people who are blind to manufacture and sell products to the Federal government. By 1971, it was amended to include people with other significant disabilities and is known today as the Javits-Wagner-O’Day Act. The AbilityOne Program, established by the Javits-Wagner-O’Day Act, helps nearly 50,000 people who are blind or have other severe disabilities find employment. We are partnered with AbilityOne and the National Industries for the Blind as well as other programs and partners to provide service, support, and employment opportunities to blind and visually impaired citizens in Travis county and surrounding areas.
